Tinpot Hut 2017 Marlborough Pinot Noir
This week only $23.19!
Tinpot Hut's owner and winemaker Fiona Turner began developing her Blind River "Home Block" vineyard in Marlborough's Awatere Valley with her husband Hamish in 2005 on what was part of a large sheep farming station.
This wine was sourced from three different vineyards and juice from each vineyard was kept separate in small open-top fermenters after which several batches were put in French oak as well as stainless steel tanks. Each batch went through malolactic fermentation and was aged on lees before being blended.
Intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry,, and plum mingle with a hint of redcurrant and savory mushroom with toasty oak notes are on the nose. Classic black cherry notes dominate the palate and are supported by hints of bramble, reflecting the aromatics. The tannins are soft and silky while well-balanced acidity ensures good length and weight.
Food pairing: New Zealand green shell mussels, king salmon, lamb shoulder or a charcuterie platter.
