Naoussa is a light and aromatic wine with soft tannins from selected blocks within the private vineyards at Yianakohori. Xinomavro (pronounced Zee-no-mav-ro) is the principle red grape of the uplands of Naoussa and has become one of Greece'smost important and well regarded wines. Noted for it's high acidity, thin skins and tannin content, it has often been compared to Nebbiolo in style. Thanks to its red fruit and vegetal complexity, reminiscent of tomato and olive, its firm tannic structure and lingering aftertaste, a typical Xinomavro is the ultimate wine for sophisticated meat-lovers, pairing perfectly with dishes of lamb, veal or game, roasted or cooked in red sauce and dried fruits.
