Caring for the land and the vines is at the heart of Andi Fausto and his son Augisto’s work ethic. Located in the Oltrepo Pavese district of Lombardy they grow many varietals including this Pinot Nero – the Italian word for Pinot Noir. Traditional cultivation, manual labor showcase the regions terrior. The labels are painted by hand by disabled people who come to the winery with their teachers every week.
Originaldo is unique. The grapes are destemmed and placed directly into oak barrels for a 12 month fermentation on the skins with no added yeast. A bold and unique Pinot Noir that is floral and finessed, exotic, strong and intense. Unfined and unfiltered.
Food pairing: The boldness of this wine is a good match for anything with truffles, mushrooms, cured meats and bacon
