Live Music- Evyn Charles Sings French
October 4 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm PDT
Bastille Day is a holiday celebrating the storming of the Bastille, which helped usher in the French Revolution and depose the callous tyranny of the French monarchy. What does this have to do with wine? As a matter of fact, a big part of why everyone was cheesed was due to high taxes- specifically, the tax on wine! So the masses stormed the toll gates at the entry to Paris, took the wine, and got hammered. This also emboldened them to transgress authority and later storm the Bastille. Wine was thus a lubricant and a catalyst to the unrest. It played a subtle yet decisive role in the events related to the French Revolution.
So, stop by and try an exquisite flight of French wines while listening to the dulcet tones of Evyn Charles signing French ditties on our (ocean) air-conditioned patio. We'll be raising a toast to every rabble-rouser, firebrand, and rebel with the cajones to stand their ground and fight for what's right, which of course, is you're right, to party!
